I had planned to finish the quiet book for Elliott on his first birthday, but I didn’t manage to do it, I didn’t realize how much work this book would be. I finally finished the book a couple weeks ago, being at home did give me enough time to sew.
On the second page I created little cars, which are moveable back and forth.
I’ve asked Tim, my parents and Tim’s parents to write a text for the book. I also wrote some words, wishes and thoughts for Elliott.
On most of the activity pages the tiny details are handstiched – for example on the next page I handstitched the dog to the page.
I added valcro to the back of the ballons which are attached to the page with a ribbon and to the front of the color matching ones, which are appliqued to the page itself. I ironed fusalbe fabric to the back of the ballons and zigzagged stiched them.
Elliott and his best buddy Daddy. They always do silly things together and do mischief. I love this picture of them from last summer.
I added ribbon around the text from my parents, which was attached on the Elliott’s birth presents from my parents. The text on the ribbon says: “From me to you with Love”.
The next page is my favorite. I created the octupus because we went to the Seattle Aquarium on Elliott’s 1st birthday. He loved every minute of it and we had such a great time. To see the facination of the fish, the animals and water in his eyes was just amazing. That day was just so special to me and Tim.
The fish are made out of felt and are hand embroidered on one side and glued together. I used tull to create the net and attached a ribbon on the back so it can be closed.
On this page I created and evelope which is sewn to the page and you can take the letter out easily.
And this is the last page, I first wanted to add a couple of different mustaches to the page, but in end they were so big, that they covered the whole face. I decided against it.
And finally the back page, which is really simple.
